The Best Choice For Your Vehicle

The best way you can take care of your car is to build a relationship with a knowledgeable vehicle repair shop. Choose a repair shop that will listen to your concerns and openly communicates with you about your vehicle needs. They should be thorough and be able to explain all the details to you, so you know what is going to be done to your car, how much, and how long it will take.

REMEMBER!

The NUMBER ONE way to prolong the life of your vehicle and avoid unexpected breakdowns is PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE!

A Guide to Automotive Services

  1. Oil Change - How often and why?
  2. Brake Fluid - Did you know it’s hygroscopic?
  3. Air Filters - What do they do?
  4. Air Conditioning - How to maintain?
  5. Engine Coolant - Why should it be changed?
  6. Power Steering - You can prevent that noise?
  7. Transmission Fluid - How hot does it really get?
  8. Induction Service - Why is it more important now?

Oil Change Service

Engine Oil and Filter need to be changed every 3,000 Miles or 3 Months (non-synthetic) or 5,000 Miles or 5 Months (synthetic)

Change your engine oil and filter regularly based on your driving habits and driving conditions where you live. Most manufacturers recommend oil changes between 3,000 and 5,000 miles. If the weather in your area is harsh or severe, your owner’s manual may recommend more frequent oil changes.

Reasons for Service:

  • Improves gas mileage
  • Restoration of engine balance and power
  • Optimizes engine compression and prolongs bearing protection

Brake Fluid Service

Brake Fluid needs to be changed every 20-30K Miles or 2 Years

Brake fluid requires regular service because it is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs moisture naturally. That moisture lowers the boiling point of the brake fluid and when it boils, vapor or air bubbles release into the brake system. Vapor and air leads to a feeling of a “soft” brake pedal or no firmness when pressing on the brake.

Reasons for Service:

  • Helps prevent leaks in brake system
  • Longer component life
  • Helps maintain proper brake operation

Cooling System Fluid Service

Engine Coolant needs to be changed every 30-45K Miles or 3 Years)

Over time, your engine coolant may not be capable of cooling your engine because of its pH level, glycol percentage, and clarity, thus, losing its effectiveness to lubricate the water pump and other important coolant system components. New coolant will help reduce foam and rust throughout the coolant system and is best when flushed regularly.

Reasons for Service:

  • Balances pH & Ethylene Glycol Levels
  • Prevents overheating
  • Prevents foam and rust in system

Air Filters

Engine and Cabin Air Filters need to be changed every 12-15K Miles or Once a Year

Air filters help filter dust, pollen, and small debris from entering into your vehicle and build up on the filters. The cabin air filter keeps the AC system working properly and allows fresh clean air to come through the AC vents. Otherwise, a dirty cabin filter can damage the AC. The engine air filter protects the engine from debris, which increases fuel efficiency.

Reasons for Service:

  • Increases fuel efficiency
  • Cleans outside air when going into the car
  • Maintains AC and engine components

Air Conditioning Service

Air conditioning service needs to be done every 12-15K Miles or Once a Year

A/C systems work by removing the humidity and heat from inside the car. This process of heat exchange is a perfect breeding ground for bacteria, mold, and allergens. The bacteria, mold, and allergens cause a musty smell in the vehicle. By regularly servicing the A/C system, it will help eliminate and prevent bacteria and mold.

Reasons for Service:

  • Helps remove musty smell from vehicle
  • Prevents growth of bacteria, mold, and allergens
  • Allows A/C system to work efficiently

Power Steering Fluid Service

Power Steering Fluid needs to be changed every 30-45K Miles or 3 Years

When power steering fluid is new, it’s generally translucent or red, but turns dark with age. Heat, friction, and electrochemical degradation effects the power steering fluid. Dark, old fluid will cause premature wear on your power steering parts. Contaminated fluid can cause power steering problems like hard turning after you first start your vehicle, leaks, steering noises, or stiff steering.

Reasons for Service:

  • Alleviates steering squeal caused by sticking valves
  • Corrects that “jerking” feel in the steering wheel
  • Helps prevent fluid leaks and reduces wear

Transmission Fluid Service

Transmission Fluid needs to be changed every 20-30K Miles or 2 Years

Replacing transmission oil fluid is important to keep your transmission running smoothly. Transmission fluid lubricates the transmission and cleans it from metal particles. Since the transmission fluid is exposed to heat, friction, and electrochemical degradation, it breaks down over time and loses its thickness and lubricating properties. Dirty transmission fluid causes the transmission to become clogged with sludge, varnish deposits, and can cause the transmission to fail.

Reasons for Service:

  • Improves hard shifting, chattering, and slipping
  • Provides cooler operation
  • Reconditions seal and extends transmission life

Fuel Induction Service

An Induction Service needs to be performed every 30-45K Miles or 3 Years

Newer cars are made with less tolerances for carbon build-ups and varnish. Dirt, varnish, and carbon de-posits build up in the fuel system, on the intake valves, and the combustion chamber areas of all vehicles. This causes the engine to lose up to 15% engine efficiency every 30,000 miles. These build-ups can reduce performance, mileage, and lead to costly engine repairs.

Reasons for Service:

  • Increases and maintains fuel economy
  • Restores horsepower
  • Reduces emissions
  • Cleans fuel injectors
